I had the pleasure of moving a senior last month who identified as a baker, gourmet cook and said her favorite room in the house was the kitchen. She was moving to a community where the kitchen was going to be significantly smaller than the one we were standing in. As we pulled items out of cupboards and displayed all her cookware on the counter – we began the task of sorting through what was going to make the move and what items were going to be passed along for someone else to enjoy.

Memories flooded back of Christmas bundt cakes, easter fondue, summer zucchini bread. . . but when Diane realized how many years had passed since any of those items had been used, she was slowly able to release them.

Her most favorite kitchen items still made the cut and as we paired down her four beloved loaf pans to one and placed it in the box, she looked at me and said, “I’m just not a 4 loaf pan girl anymore!”.
